Below you will see my first hair related Youtube video! Gotta start somewhere right?! In no way am I a hair guru but since I’ve been able to grow my hair consistently over the past few years I wasted to share some of the tips I’ve picked up along the way starting with my Shea Butter Mix. I use it as a sealant for twist outs, braid outs, and as a hair-dress for my buns before I apply gel to my hair. It’s natural and can easily be made at home.
Just to give you an idea of what my hair is like I’d have to say that Im a 4c (although I don’t really like following the hair letter/number chart). My hair is very thick, coarsest at the crown with many unruly curls. The curls on my head often curl into each other because they have no uniform patter which makes detangling a huge project and the skrinkage is REAL. I’ve found that this shea butter mix gives my hair exactly what it needs no matter how the consistency of it comes out.
In general, when making a shea butter mix I suggest that you find the hair oils that will work best for what your hair needs. I prefer heavier oils like olive and castor oil diluted with a coconut or sweet almond oil. If you hair is thinner you may want to put the castor oil down and just chose the lighter oils. Also, keep in mind that the purer the oil the better and these days organic, cold pressed, virgin oils can be found in your local Walmart or Trader Joe. You’ll see in the video that I do not use heat just to ensure that all the goodness in the shea butter remains in tact. It takes longer to mix but I know my hairs thankful for it!
I’m sure that I’ve left out some piece of information you may need, if so, just leave a comment below! I hope you enjoy the video! Give it a thumbs up if you’d like to see more hair related videos and check out the other content on my channel!
Thanks as always for your visit!
